The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has kicked off its new digital marketing campaign, “Thailand Extreme Makeover” to promote the kingdom as a centre of medical tourism. Join a “reality-type” contest in which the selected contestants undergo makeovers including various cosmetic surgery procedures. There is a 5,000 US Dollars cash prize up for grabs as well as a chance to win luxury trips to Thai tourist destinations.
A trip sampling the diversity of Southeast Asian destinations can take you from the sleek modernity of Singapore to the ancient temples of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat. And then there are the beaches of Thailand: relaxing, beautiful, and for the adventurous spring-breaker, a lot more exotic than Miami. Thai beaches offer gorgeous stretches of sand, water sports, nearby outdoor activities and cheap food and drink.
A grand total of 113 Thai venues including cities, islands, hotels, spas and airports have been nominated for the 2014 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, which are fast becoming the industry’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in the tourism and travel.
Voluntourism can take many forms; thus voluntourists can choose which type of activity or location they prefer to contribute their energies and services. Openmind Projects, OMP, is an aid and education, non-government organization founded in 2001. Based in Thailand, it offers free educational and volunteer support to local communities, schools and national parks.
